Single tooth Implant
In today’s era, for a single missing tooth, implant is the number one choice of treatment. The most common alternative to dental implants for a single tooth are fixed bridges. But a bridge involves grinding healthy adjacent teeth that are used to attach and support the bridge. The tooth-supported bridge does not stimulate natural bone growth beneath it, so the bone may deteriorate over time. The average life span of a bridge is generally 5-10 yrs because patients have to be very diligent in cleaning around them. If they don’t keep them clean, it makes the root surfaces below and around the bridgework highly susceptible to decay and eventually causes failure of the bridge. Hence for single missing teeth implants are more viable treatment option as implants don’t get cavities and they are not dependent on adjacent teeth for support.
